It is an actual document that contains everything what the original has: signatures, certification, notarization, etc.Ordering duplicates is very thoughtful. Let's say, you ordered birth certificate translation for INS. Of course, INS is going to keep the translation on file. A month later, you need to provide the same translation to apply for a driver's license. But you don't have it - remember, INS kept it? Wouldn't it be nice to have a second duplicate for DMV? Please, remember: notaries in the United States cannot notarize photocopies of any kind. It is illegal and a notary who does that may and probably will lose his/her license.
